North Shore 2009: Tour of Soudan Mine Video

It's a bit lengthy (about 8:52) but it has the excellent description provided by the tour guide and if you look really close you can see a bat!

What could be better?

What could be better than playing the ukulele?  Only one thing...playing the newspaper (just watch to see)...now if we can just get Michele to learn to play the upright bass....

Uke-aposition...

What happens when you juxtapose a soprano ukulele with a bass saxophone in a duet?

At first we were scratching our heads until the sax joined in...

Totally useless...

When confronted with a crisis, people behave differently. Some people rise to the occasion, some run away, and some run upstairs to videotape it.

W
ith the extreme cold we've been having, nothing on the pavement is melting...even with the salt. So the recent snow on the streets is getting packed down into ice. Cars are starting to slip and slide all over the place.

W
e live on a parkway (a street with a middle divider). When driving home today, Paul saw a woman who had turned to sharply and landed in the snowbank of of the middle divider. Paul was debating whether or not he should go out to help her and then a few cars pulled over to help. So Paul figured he might as well just go upstairs (for a better angle) instead and videotape it.

So here is the perfectly useless video that Paul took.

Easter Egg Hunt 2008

Grace Lutheran Church had an Easter Egg hunt put on by their youth group last Saturday. They "hid" several thousand eggs for the small children. Sammy was a bit shy with all the people around, but he survived...

If you listen carefully, you can hear other kids crying and screaming...

Sammy jamming to Johnny Cash...

Last weekend Sammy put on yet another show for us. This time to Johnny Cash singing "Johnny Yuma". Notice how he checks his reflection in the bookshelf doors to make sure he looks good.

Aunt Anne & Aunt Diane Visit Sammy for Breakfast

Yesterday Sammy's Aunt Anne & Diane came to visit for breakfast. We went to the Pannekoeken restaurant. As most visits with Sammy's aunts, this one was far too short. He looks forward to seeing them again.

Some video from their visit...

Juice...

Moving onward with technology we've upgraded to a Sony HDR-CX7 HD video camera. It's pertty cool...about the size of a can of Pepsi.

Here's a short video we took of Sammy today...

Sammy's First Christmas...

2006 was Sammy's first Christmas. Keeping with family tradition, we filmed Sammy coming down the stairs to see his Christmas presents left by Santa Claus. (When Paul was a kid, his father used an Super-8 film camera and a spot light which temporarily blinded him and his siblings for several hours afterwards). Click on the image below to see the short film. Please note no Sammys or toys were injured in making this film. Merry Christmas!
